Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is one of the most widespread vines in the Centre Italian region. It is a round and enjoyable red wine. This Montepulciano by Caldora is a very interesting red, that undergoes malolactic fermentation, before refining in American wood barriques for about 6 months (60% French oak – 40% American oak barrique).
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Yume by Caldora has a fabulous red ruby colour with garnet highlights. It is intense and persistent, with spicy aromas, hints of chocolate. The dominant flavour however, on both the nose and palate, is the copious fruit. This wine boasts good structure, tannins and a reassuring balance.
Best to be enjoyed with
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Yume by Caldora is perfect main courses such as roasted or stewed meats. Try it with agnello cacio e ova (lamb in cheese and egg sauce) or pasta with lamb ragù.
The Winery: Caldora
Born from the co-op, Cantina Sociale di Ortona, Caldora is a very young business based in the province of Chieti in Italy’s Abruzzo region. The rigorous quality checks of this project mean that today a total of around 200 hectares of high quality fruit, contribute to making Caldora’s delicious wines. Their wine is being sold successfully in almost 30 countries and Caldora has already received praise from specialised wine publications and noteworthy acknowledgments in major wine competitions.
