Gin Cocrodile is a gin produced in Lazio, a region in central Italy. Gin Crocodile Del Professore marks a new experience in the adventurous life of Del Professore. This is the third Gin in the Del Professore range, all of which represent the rediscovery of a lost styles of spirits production: this one in particular represents an Old Tom style Gin from the 19th century. Old Tom Gin has many speculated origins; from an old Tom Cat falling into a vat of Gin to early advertising campaigns. Nonetheless this product has played a very important role in the history of Gin production and the evolution of this popular spirits flavour profile. Between the 18th and the 19th century Old Tom Gin started being produced as a dryer alternative to the Dutch Genever. Subsaquently dryer meant higher in alcohol which might explain its early nickname “mothers ruin ”. Although not known as the most palatable in taste back then, this important evolution paved the way for even dryer styles such as the London Dry Gin which is the style we have all come to know and love. This important flavour bridge therefore would not have been possible without the Old Tom Gin. All the in gredients used in their products are natural, there are no artificial colours or flavours used. The combination of ingredients, time and seasons mean that no batch is the same, which is just an other reason why these Gins are so special.
Gin Crocodile Del Professore is very fresh, with intense aromas of juniper and citrus, surrounded by nuances of coriander, elderflower and Jamaican pepper. On the palate it is full bodied and smooth, gently softened by notes of vanilla and exotic spices.
