Barbaresco is a fantastic red wine from Piedmont, a region in Northern Italy. Barbaresco "Ronchi" comes from the limestone-rich, Ronchi Cru, which sits on the lower part of the appellation. The vineyards have a southeastern exposure and sit 240 meters above sea level. The wine is aged in large, 20 hectoliter German and Austrian oak casks for 2 years.
Barbaresco "Ronchi" by Albino Rocca is deeper than the other cru’s, with a dense palate and a little more dark fruit. Great concentration, vibrant and texture. Albino Rocca's wines are characterised by beautifully pristine aromas and seductive texture. A vibrant top note of intense redcurrant and violets and very juicy acidity.
Best to be enjoyed with
The best way to pair Barbaresco "Ronchi" by Albino Rocca is with wild mushroom risotto, agnolotti al Tartufo and braised meat. A great companion for old strong cheeses like Gorgonzola and Castelmagno. It needs to be opened at least 2 hours before drinking. Pour the nectar into a crystal decanter.
The Winery: Albino Rocca
Albino Rocca, they established the company in 1955 in one of the most precious regions of Piemonte--Barbaresco. 1971 was the first vintage of Barbaresco. Recently they have gained their “Green Experience” certification, an achievement granted solely for Piemonte wines with vinicultural methods that conserve natural resources and protect the landscape of the region through natural agricultural methods and chemical reduction. Their Barbarescos are aged in large twenty hectolitre neutral oak barrels to highlight the Nebbiolo grape and produce a more elegant, less oaky style.
