Barbaresco is a fantastic red wine from Piedmont, a region in Northern Italy. Barbaresco Cottà comes from one of the best-known Barbaresco subzones and is a historic cru, one of the first to be produced from a single vineyard. It’s a tiny area, producing no more than 15 hl from the vines that for the most part are more than 50 years old. The clay marl soil produces rich, solid and robust wines which marry well with Nebbiolo. The wine is aged in German and Austrian oak for 2 years.
Barbaresco Cottà by Albino Rocca has mature, riper fruit flavours in abundance. With a nuances of baked berry desserts. Warming, with a softness, well rounded sweet palate and grippy tannins in balance.
Best to be enjoyed with
The best way to pair Barbaresco Cottà by Albino Rocca is with wild mushroom risotto, agnolotti al tartufo and braised meat. A great companion for old strong cheeses like Gorgonzola and Castelmagno. It needs to be opened at least 2 hours before drinking. Pour the nectar into a crystal decanter.

Albino Rocca, they established the company in 1955 in one of the most precious region of Piemonte--Barbaresco. 1971 was the first vintage of Barbaresco. Recently they have gained their “Green Experience” certification, an achievement granted solely for Piemonte wines with vinicultural methods that conserve natural resources and protect the landscape of the region through natural agricultural methods and chemical reduction. Their Barbarescos are aged in large twenty hectolitre neutral oak barrels to highlight the Nebbiolo grape and produce a more elegant, less oaky style.
