Grape: Indigenous Grape - Erbaluce
Alcohol Content: 12.5%
Unit Quantity: 750 ml
The Erbaluce is a "minor" indigenous grape, harvested on a small plot of land not far from Turin, in Piedmont. It is extremely versatile for wine-making (it represents a landmark for still wines in particular).
The colour is straw-yellow with golden reflections. This wine's bold scent includes notes of sage and aromatic herbs with a fruit-laden flavour, linked to refreshing notes of pear and grapefruit that create a pleasant and firm aromatic structure. The mouthfeel is consistent, well-balanced between acidity and softness, endowed with persistence and enhanced by a slight mineral touch.
Best to be enjoyed with
Those who appreciate expressive wines, which are simple to enjoy and represent well the land of origin. Recommended with vegetable-based recipes or (not too complicated) fish dishes.
The Winery: Orsolani
The Orsolani family started wine-making activities in Erbaluce, Piedmont, during 1894. After four generations, harvesting in the vineyards is still mainly manual, with little use of tractors; the energy for the cellar is almost fully generated with sun-power. The estate's activity is devoted to the production of wines from indigenous grapes. The total yearly production amounts to some 15,000 bottles (90% being Erbaluce, the most famous wine of the family).
