We like challenges. Such as those undertaken by these three producers by committing themselves to protect and revalue ancient indigenous vines that, probably, would have otherwise disappeared... Accordingly, these are wines to be treasured twice: in the mouth, for their exquisite originality, with the heart, for what they represent. They are, most likely, the rarest wines you will have ever enjoyed.
Gamba di Pernice
Vino da Tavola Rosso
Tenuta dei Fiori
FROM THE NAME (IT MEANS "PARTRIDGE'S LEG", RECALLING THE VERMILION COLOUR OF THE GRAPE'S STALK) TO ITS MULTIPLE FRAGRANCES, ALL IN ALL THIS WINE APPEARS WORTHY OF ATTENTION. PRAISE GOES TO THE PRODUCER, WHO STARTED TO PROTECT THIS OLD VINE VARIETY YEARS AGO, WHEN ON THE VERGE OF DISAPPEARING.
The colour is a light rubin-red with clear garnet reflections. The bouquet opens with fruit fragrances recalling blueberry, marasca cherry and pomegranate, spiced with pepper, while the aftertaste proposes a moderate reference to acacia flowers, with sweet and almond-like tones. The taste is fresh, crossed by acid and vegetal sensations and with swift and lively tannins. Tickling pepper can also be sensed in the mouth, with the effect of a longer persistence.
Best to be enjoyed with: a spicy and tickling wine calls for equally intriguing company. It can be matched with the most typical Italian appetisers: a course made with cured meats, cheeses and marinated vegetables.
The Tenuta dei Fiori Winery
The Tenuta dei Fiori wine estate is located at Calosso, near Asti, in Piedmont, and the property extends over a surface of about 5 hectares, where different vineyeards are grown: a historical Barbera with over 70 years, called Rusticardi 1933, the Muscat Canelli white, Chardonnay, Freisa, Dolcetto, Cabernet Sauvignon and, of course, the Gamba di Pernice.
GAMBA DI PERNICE Piemonte
GAMBA DI PERNICE Tenuta dei Fiori
Provincia di Pavia Igt Rosso
A ONE OF A KIND WINE, WITH A BOLD PERSONALITY, BORN FROM THE VINIFICATION OF THE MORNASCA (OR UVA DI MORNICO) ALONE, A MINOR INDIGENOUS LOMBARD GRAPE, ALMOST DISAPPEARED NOWADAYS. THE WINE IS PRODUCED BY CASCINA GNOCCO, A WINERY STILL COMMITTED TO PRESERVE THIS "RELIC" FROM EXTINCTION!
An intense rubin red, almost impermeable to the light. With a strong and penetrating bouquet, this wine shows dominating notes of red and black fruit, sided with a spicy sweet sensation and a note of liquorice and juniper. The palate has a strong body, sustained by a fresh acidity and a layer of tannins that covers the wine with a dense texture. The finish consists of a cherry stone note.
Best to be enjoyed with: if you want to surprise your most wine-knowledgeable friends, you must serve this wine: they will never forget it. For the occasion, you should pair it with important dishes of red meats, feathered game and aged cheeses.
The Cascina Gnocco Winery
The Cascina Gnocco wine estate was established in 1923, when Carlo Cuneo, forefather of the current owner, purchased different properties in the area of Torricella Verzate. The first bottle labelled "Cuneo" was actually produced only in the fifties. However, subsequently the estate started a swifter development and the vineyards currently cover 15 hectares of land.

Monreale perricone doc
Sicily, but I a way You would not expect. A good pith for this enological gem, from the Island heart; a wine revalued owing to the work of the Tamburello Family. It is a remarkable wine due to its wonderful fragrances and the ease in pairing with either meat or fish.
The light rubin red displays light garnet nuances. This wine holds a very peculiar scent: aromas of almost-withered flowers, black cherries and raspberries, blackcurrant jam, with a hint of hot eastern spices and aromatic herbs (in between thyme and oregano, pennyroyal and wild fennel). The taste is fragrant and it immediately embraces the palate with fruity and intense releases. The slight, acid freshness matches with the light vegetable tone, while the fine tannicity rekindles the palate politely.
The Tamburello Winery
The estate is located on the wine route, Palermo-Sciacca, linking the Tyrrhenian Coast to the Channel of Sicily. It is situated in the territory of Monreale, globally known for its Arab-Norman monuments. The property is 70-hectare-wide. The production is diversified: grapes, olives and cereals. All the products are organically farmed.
